Fall 2011 Slice-of-Life Roundup 02
Fall 2011 Slice-of-Life Roundup 01: Tamayura: Hitotose, Kimi to Boku, Chihayafuru
Right. For this season I intend to provide some form of coverage for the slice-of-life series (that’s plural, I checked~).
This is partly penance for not covering Usagi Drop last season, but also partly because I love slice-of-life and I’d like to give it whatever attention I can spare.
I.e. I want to write about slice-of-life but I’m too lazy a bastard to write 3 separate full length posts.
Ahem. On with the review.

R-15 12 [END]: …No kiss?
Taketo’s pen has the power to pierce the divine firmaments!
But it still can’t get him that good end.
Fukune-chan does not comprehend this kiss that she is supposed to be giving.
R-15 11: And now for something completely insensitive
Who knew that Fukune-chan had such great legs?
Or that despite the fact that she’s going through severe emotional trauma, that she’s never been depicted as anything other than ‘cute’, and that I should be thinking of ways to comfort her (assuming she was real) – I can still be thinking of her in impure ways?
No, that’s not really the insensitive bit. The real insensitive stuff is yet to come.
Yuru Yuri 12 [END]: THE BEAST IS UNLEASHED
What happens when a Pavlovian-conditioned Yuri fangirl tastes chocolate and happens to be surrounded by cute joshikōsei?
“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea… and they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast; they worshipped the beast saying, ‘Who is like the beast?'”
– Lord Blackwood, Sherlock Holmes (2009)
R-15 10: Guilty Pleasure status restored
“Meguru!” “Beni!”
“Senpai-tachi blasting off at the speed of light!”
“Surrender now, or prepare to participate in a completely irrelevant competition for the purposes of fanservice and possible plot advancement!”
That rhymed better in my head.
R-15 09: AIC’s losing it
It wasn’t all that obvious from the start, I’ll admit.
But you wouldn’t need to be an otaku to notice the declining art quality through the episode, right before it became a steep spiral into the domain of amateur doujin artists harnessing the accursed energies of false hope and desperation.
Something is rotten in the state of affairs at AIC.
Plus that frame of Utae-chan is going to give me nightmares if I look at it any longer.
R-15 08: Light and Fluffy Fukune-chan Time
Secrets of Fukune-chan #17: There’s a warning label on the back of her neck that reads,
“The Surgeon General has determined that continued exposure to high levels of cuteness is hazardous to your health.”
“Previous victims who suffered overexposure experienced suffered elevated blood pressure, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, and said that it was worth it.”
R-15 07: The empyrean sanctum of the female dormitory
That hallowed land where only the most courageous, most foolish, or most fortunate of men could enter.
And while it may be true that the true state of things may not live up to the tales and sagas…
… there are still splendiferous treasures to be found.
“Their value is greatly changed depending on whether or not they’ve been washed!”
