Tales of Xillia and Star Driver collaboration

May 29, 2011 1 comment

I’ve been eagerly following any news about the upcoming Tales game for the PS3, and Namco Bandai has finally revealed a boatload of information after Day 1 of Tales of Festival 2011 (which runs from May 28-29).

Seems like Xillia was paired up with Star Driver as their anime collaborators, similar to our Tales of Graces was paired up with Code Geass. In a nutshell, what this means is Star Driver costumes for the characters in Tales of Xillia! You have to pay as DLC to get them, naturally.

The theme song is titled ‘Progress’, and will be sung by Hamasaki Ayumi. I’m glad she hasn’t given up and is still continuing to sing/produce music even after all those problems with her ear.

There’s also going to be a special PS3 version, which of course has set my limited-edition-collecting-spirit on fire.

The gameplay trailer was finally revealed, with Jude and Milla (main characters) wearing special costumes in celebration of Tales 15th anniversary. If you’re a Tales fan you should immediately recognize the costumes as that of Cress (Phantasia) and Stahn (Destiny).

The game is slated to be released on September 8. I really hope Xillia gets translated, although Graces f is supposedly being translated. That or I have to go learn Japanese, fast.

Japan’s disappointment in Spring 2011 anime

April 25, 2011 5 comments

Right, I don’t know what Japan is smoking but looking at the rankings for Top 10 Most Disappointing Anime of Spring 2011, the top spot really leaves me flabbergasted.

  1. Nichijou
  2. 30-sai no Hoken Taiiku
  3. Dog Days
  4. A Channel
  5. Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai
  6. Steins;Gate
  7. Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko
  8. Hen Zemi
  9. Hidan no Aria
  10. Softenni

Seriously? Nichijou? The manga must have been ultra stunning or something to leave the audience disappointed, because it is the most surreal-in-a-good-way show I have watched since Azumanga Daioh.

Hidan no Aria 01: the birth of another Kugimin-voiced tsundere loli

Im so angry that you didnt post until now!!

Right. New season, new show. My fellow writers have already started on their respective series while I’ve been stewing around (albeit having fun when watching Nichijou) and waiting for Hidan to air on TV. As luck would have it, just when I got ahold of episode 1, I managed to end up in a household that had its internet connection severed due to bungling contractors, which is why this post is only coming out now.

Madoka Magica to finally end

April 12, 2011 Leave a comment

This piece of news has probably spread like wildfire, but I still feel an obligation to post it. You never know, someone might have missed it.

Ever since the disaster that struck Japan, Puella Magi Madoka Magica had been on indefinite hiatus. This break is about to come to an end as MBS will be airing episodes 11 and 12 on April 22nd, while TBS will be airing episodes 10 to 12 on the same day as well.

Finally, we will get to see whether Kyubey gets massacred or not.

Nichijou ep01: why you should follow this show

Looks like the void left by Lucky Star is about to be filled by the ultra-random show that is Nichijou. I’ve already rewatched this scene probably >10 times.

Star Driver 25: Sundays will NEVER be FAABULOUS anymore

April 4, 2011 Leave a comment

The end of a beautiful world

I’m crying. No, not really. But I’m really, really, really, really sad. Anyone who has been following Star Driver for the past 6 months knows that Sundays will never be the same again.

You will always have this empty hollow feeling in your heart. Sure, the middle episodes have been monster-of-the-week garbage with Takuto winning through numerous asspulls. But the amount of FAABULOUS that has been there, since the beginning, since episode 22, and especially in this final episode, has made sitting through all the bullshit worthwhile.

Star Driver, you will be missed ;'(

This is genius-level.

Note that Madoka has cried 6 times.

April 3, 2011 1 comment

So, Dengeki conducted an online poll for the anticipated shows of Spring 2011, and here are the results.

1 ) Hidan no Aria
2 ) Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko
3 ) Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai II
4 ) Nichijou
5 ) A Channel
6 ) Hanasaku Iroha
7 ) Ao no Exorcist
8 ) C
9 ) Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai
10 ) Kaiji: Hakairoku Hen

My only beef is, where’s Steins; Gate???

Anyhow, I’m in the midst of writing about HIMYO’s take on Spring 2011 anime, though a post containing 42 shows is really a massive undertaking. uguuuu~
