2011 is the Year of TYPE-MOON!!!

In the space of just 1 month Type-Moon has just announced 3 anime projects for 2011, one a brand new project created by one of their staff, another which would be funny and a joy to watch for fans, and the last one which will be a massive hit with an epic story, and just to make things worse the first and last one that i mentioned would be animated by ufotable (OMFGWTF).

So as i was saying, their first project is a brand new anime called ガールズワーク( Girl’s Work) which was initially supposed to be an all-ages adventure game. The character designs are by Takenashi Eri who used to be part of Type-Moon is their early days and the creator of Kannagi and a Type-Moon anthology gag manga Take Moon. The animation would be done by ufotable which means that it maybe a show to look out for knowing ufotable’s superb animation(eg Kara no Kyoukai) but the key art seems promising.

Girl who lept through town?

Other than that nothing much has been said about this project but judging from the website http://www.girlswork-animation.com/

The next project that was announced is one that would bring joy to all Type-Moon fans, an OAV called Carnival Phantasm. The name doesnt say much until you see a picture of it in either the Jan issue of NEWTYPE, Animage or Monthly Comic Rex…

Taken from Monthly Comic Rex Magazine

The anime is an adaptation of Takenashi Eri’s manga Take-Moon which is essentially a doujinshi of their two works Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night. I find this quite interesting as the manga has been around for quite a while with the first volume being published 6 years ago and the second one 4 years ago so sometime must have made them want to animate it. Tsukihime and Fate/stay Night crosses are enjoyable as those who have read the doujinshi called Type-Moon Complex by the circle Crazy Clover Club so this anime would be a joy to watch seeing Takenashi Eri’s style of humor in her other work Kannagi. Remarkably, the cast for this show is quite interesting with the Fate/stay Night characters being voiced by their anime seiyuus, which is quite expected, and the Tsukihime cast being voiced by the Type-Moon inspired game and Tsukihime spin-off Melty Blood.

The cast is as follows:

  • Kawasumi Ayako as Saber
  • Yuzuki Ryoka as Arcueid
  • Tanaka Atsuko as Caster
  • hitomi as Tohno Akiha
  • Nakata Jouji as Kotomine Kirei
  • Suwabe Junichi as Archer
  • Ueda Kana as Tosaka Rin
  • Nojima Kenji as Tohno Shiki
  • Sakuma Kumi as Ciel
  • Kadowaki Mai as Illya
  • Matsuki Miyu as Hisui
  • Takano Naoko as Kohaku
  • Kanna Nobutoshi as Lancer
  • Sugiyama Noriaki as Emiya Shiro
  • Shitaya Noriko as Matou Sakura

With a cast like this, this show is going to be one very interesting and enjoyable show to watch and from what i have read, it is going to be released in the summer.

Lastly, this third project was just announced a few days ago on the 21st of December and when i read about it, i nearly went crazy with joy.

For those who do not know what Fate/Zero is let me explain briefly. It is the prologue of Fate/Stay Night, in which the 5th Grail War occured, so Fate/Zero is about the 4th Grail War. Do not expect a messed-up war that you watched in Fate/Stay Night to happen as the 4th War is a proper one with proper mages so it is very different. Everyone who watched Fate/Stay Night knows who survived the previous war so Fate/Zero tells their story and provides more lore about the Fate universe and answers some questions too. Having read the novels, Fate/Zero is an EPIC novel with tons of action and a deep story, the characters are unique each with a specific  reason of fighting in the Grail War. The reason why Fate/Zero is such a good read is because Urobuchi Gen from Nitroplus is the writer and he worked closely with creator Nasu Kinoko when creating this.

The novels are a superb read with beautiful illustrations, courtesy of Takeuchi Takashi, and a must read for any Type-Moon fan.

Well enough talking about the novel and time to start on the anime. From what i have read, the director is Aoki Ei with Sodou Tomonori and Ikariya Atsushi adapting the character designs from those that were done by novel illustrator Takeuchi Takashi. Seeing Sodou Tomonori in the staff is good news as he did a terrific job adapting another Type-Moon works’ art, Kara no Kyoukai, into animation. And just to make the already great news even better, the studio that is in charge is again ufotable.  Fate/Zero also has a great website, http://www.fate-zero.jp/index.html , with a exquisite key art picture. From the website, they also announced that the cast would be the same as the Drama CD cast with is great news as it has many experienced and famous seiyuu.

For those who do not know the cast it is as follows:

  • Koyama Rikiya as Emiya Kitsurugi
  • Kawasumi Ayako as Saber
  • Ohara Sayaka as Irisviel Von Einzbern
  • Hayami Sho as Tosaka Tokiomi
  • Seki Tomokazu as Archer
  • Nakata Jouji as Kotomine Kirei
  • Abe Sachie as Assassin
  • Yamazaki Takumi as Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald
  • Midorikawa Hikaru as Lancer
  • Namikawa Daisuke as Waver Velvet
  • Ohtsuka Akio as Rider
  • Akira Ishida as Uryuu Ryunosuke
  • Tsuruoka Satoshi as Caster
  • Shingaki Tarusuke as Matou Kariya
  • Okiayu Ryotaro as Berserker

As we can see the cast has many familiar names and a few unexpected ones such as Ohtsuka Akio, Akira Ishida, Morikawa Daisuke and Okiayu Ryotaro who in most other anime would have been casted as main characters but we do not need to worry as each of the seven masters are given equal treatment and exposure in the novel so i hope that it will be reflected in the anime.

Seeing the staff, cast and story of Fate/Zero, i can hereby declare that this is a must watch anime as it will mesmerise and enchant Type-Moon fans and non-fans alike. Sadly no release date has been set but i hope that it will be as soon as possible so everyone can enjoy the greatness of Fate/Zero.

Therefore, everyone please prepare for the Type-Moon storm this 2011 as these 3 shows together with the delayed Type-Moon PC visual novel, 魔法使いの夜 (Mahou Tsukai no Yoru) will rock the anime scene.

PS: woot 1 more month and a few days till i gt my Kara no Kyoukai Blue-ray Boxset…..>< dammit cant wait
